PIBC 2018 Gold for Excellence in Planning – City & Urban Areas

City of Surrey Parks Recreation and Culture Strategic Plan

MODUS worked closely with the City to design and implement and engagement process that brought more than 5000 people and 250 community groups into the PRC plan’s creation.

City of New Westminister OCP

MODUS  assisted New West in this long-range planning effort by facilitating a high profile Valentines Day public workshop (themed Love our City and attended by 300 people). We also executed a 2-day visioning charrette for staff and advisory committee members that led to clear directions on where anticipated growth should go in the City and other policy directions.

The International Association for Public Participation (IAP2) also recognized our exceptional work with 2 Core Values Awards in the categories of Inclusion & Diversity and Visual Engagement.

IAP2 2018 Core Values Award for Visuals

District of Squamish

MODUS worked with the District of Squamish to create a crisp and inviting brand for this community planning process, knowing the value of a compelling identity and consistent messages to engagement. People love to participate in meaningful engagement, but they first have to hear about it and be attracted to your project, or engagement will fail. We stress this with all our clients, but Squamish really bought into it, and it paid off!

The American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA) were also impressed with our client, The Vancouver Parks Board, awarding them and the VanPlay project an honour award in the communications category this year.

ASLA Professional Awards 2018 – Communications Category, Honour Award

MODUS supported the Vancouver Board of Parks and Recreation in developing a parks and recreation master plan called ‘Vancouver’s Playbook which maximized access to high-quality parks and recreation experiences  connecting people with themselves, each other and nature.

Critical to success of the engagement work has been the brand and collateral work done (mostly by lead consultant Design Workshop)  all of which are undeniably "of VanPlay" and recognizable to shareholders and the public.
