Principal, Senior Planner 

Rob Barrs is a co-founder and principal of Modus and a registered professional  planner with over 20 years of experience in community planning, public engagement, environmental policy and housing research. Rob’s planning passion is to identify practical solutions to the challenges of creating sustainable, resilient, socially-just communities.

Rob has worked as a planner, facilitator and project director on integrated land use/transportation, urban design and sustainability plans of all scales including  regional scale initiatives, community plans (OCPs),

neighbourhood-scale plans  and sites-specific urban design and rezoning initiatives. He has designed and facilitated dozens of community design charrettes and has made this area of practice a specialty service of his firm.

Rob was previously chair of Smart Growth BC and is co-founder of Wayblaze (www.wayblaze.com), a community crowdfunding platform dedicated to shaping and funding sustainable community initiatives and businesses.
